finals

So basically accepting the fact that I spent way too much time on my D&C final which was stupid because I have a 97 in the class.....ya I don't know. Which basically gives me one day to study for mineralogy, and one day to study for chem. I can kiss my good grades goodbye at this point. Tomorrow is chem and I am absolutely going to bomb it. I don't even have hardly any time to simply review. YAY! Whatever I guess, because on Saturday I am hitting the highway.

Finals week=a perpetual feeling of crapping yourself.

neon lights

my new obsession is this song-can't get enough of it!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAxIATT6Ij0

Neon Lights lyrics
Everyday theres a thousand things
that somehow pass us by
Go cut through the noise
So you can know what love sounds like
I'm comin' to your frequency
To 106 point me
So there's no
Distractions

Take a breath
Take it in
Love has no expiration date
My heart will always beat for you
At a constant rate
It will outlast everything
You think is set is stone
It goes on and on and on and on,
On and on and on and on...

Spastic like
Neon Lights
Can you feel my love?
Loud and clear
Pulls you near
Can you feel my love

We got all the memories
So much more we can see
Better than our first kiss
Snow falling at Christmas
Like sleeping in on Sunday
Laughter we never faked
Bob Marley in Summer
One love for each other

Oh it feels like...

Fireflies
Day and night
Can you feel my love?

Everyone is looking for a special connection
But its like your compass points
A million directions
Do you need me to buy you
A telescope so you can see
How good
This could be

Spastic like
Neon Lights
Can you feel my love?
Loud and clear
Pulls you near
Can you feel me love?

Oh!

We got all the memories
So much more we can see
Better than our first kiss
Snow falling at Christmas
Like sleeping in on Sunday
Laughter we never faked
Bob Marley in Summer
One love for each other

Oh it feels like...

Fireflies
Day and night
Can you feel my love?
(Can you feel it?)

And I'll wait for you
As long as it takes
Until I get through
And it hits you right in the face

Can you feel my lo-o-ove?
Can you feel my love?

We got all the memories
So much more we can see
Better than our first kiss
Snow falling at Christmas
Like sleeping in on Sunday
Laughter we never faked
Bob Marley in Summer
One love for each other

Oh it feels like...

(One love for each other...)

Spastic like
Neon Lights
Can you feel my love?

Fireflies
Day and night
Can you feel my love???

sunday

"If the big things that really matter are finally going to work out eternally, then the little things that go wrong mortally are not cause for desperation but perhaps only a little frustration and irritation...All that matters is gloriously intact. The promises are in place."

Frosted Flakes

Right now it is 11 on a Saturday morning. I have only ventured from my bed to eat some delicious Frosted Flakes...well actually I got them and brought them back to my bed. My head is pounding, but it's probably because I slept for wayyyy too long. It was nice though. It's the first Saturday since school started that I could sleep in.

Today is going to be a good day.

I am going to tidy up my room. Then I am going to get started on my Micro-Exam for chem and work on that till Robin gets back from running. Then we are going to the creamery for lunch before she goes on her field trip. At that point I am picking up shelbs and we are going to beat our faces in at the computer lab....once we decide to give up on that I will come back and continue to work on my Micro-Exam until my Rhett is done with his stuffs.

At that point we will party for the night :)

Ma BoyFraannd

I just wanted to make a shout out to Rhett. He is far too good to me and though I am far from deserving, I still get to call him mine. He's done lots of things for me as of late that I have been so grateful for. He is the kindest and most loving boy a girl could ask for.

He's the best. Be jealous.

Nerd Fest

So to the right is a quick look at my new life. I have recently added mineralogy and chemistry to my schedule. I was kinda freaking out because they're like the death classes in my major. And did I mention I decided to take them concurrently?? Ya I'm crazy.

I am taking these classes with my friends so that's a plus. Studying all together is almost as good as hanging out....almost.

It's so weird, but it's actually been OK. I finished all my hw today at 5. How? I don't even know. But all I can say is I am awesome.

Something else that is weird and awesome...I kinda love these classes. They're a challenge, which I like. And I finally feel (after taking field studies) that I have something to work towards. A lack of motivation has been a serious issue for me since coming to college. It all feels sooo exciting now. I am pumped to learn. Even the hard things.

I just feel so blessed to be at such an amazing university with incredible professors, TAs and classmates. Learning is awesome. Just awesome.

Most Beautiful Creation

So today is Fast Sunday. I love these days. They are the one day in the month where I get to truly reflect on my life and think about my blessings, my trials, and changes I want to make in my life.

I have been thinking a lot recently about how I know God loves me. I don't think it was a coincidence when today's lesson in Relief Society was on Uchtdorf's talk from a few conferences ago about our love for God, for ourselves and those around us. I was really thinking about what specifically makes me love my Heavenly Father and what makes me know he loves me. A certain experience came to mind that I can't get out of my head so I figured I would share it here, because it applies to all these different situations.

My very first semester at BYU I was in a geology class. My first day of this class was life changing. Not only did I decide that I want to spend the rest of my life studying geology, but I gained a new perspective on my life that I have been able to draw upon again and again for strength and I was reminded of it just these past few weeks and especially today.

We were hiking in Rock Canyon and it was over 100 degrees that day. I was so tired because we were hiking for 6 hours, and I didn't have enough water and so I was getting a little grumpy. We made it to a peak and we finally had more than 2 minutes to sit down. My teacher stood in front of us and he asked us what we see. Lots of kids tried to incorporate the things we just learned into their comments talking about faulting and various rock types but all I could think of was that I could see my dorm and the temple. My attitude instantly changed. I sat and pondered about the temple and how it does stand out in the valley and how when we go there we can stand out and be made better. Then my teacher gets up and he said, "I appreciate all your comments, and now I would like to share with you what I see. I see God." He then paused for a moment and went on to say the one thing that I needed to hear most at that time. Something that has stuck with me and brought me so much peace and strength. He said, "One thing that I love about this field of study is the chance to learn about God. Look at this earth around you. Think about the processes we've discussed and everything that you can see. It is real, and it comes from a very real God. His creations are as endless as he is. One cannot look at all the things God has created and not know that he exists and that he loves his children. Look at the marvelous gift he has given us! But, of all of these creations. Of all the time and importance that exists in this earth and universe...they are nothing without you. Of all God's creations, you are his most precious, and by far the most beautiful." That moment changed my life forever. So as I was thinking about this experience today in Relief Society I realized a few things about these different kinds of love.

I know God loves me because he has given me this earth. This earth reminds me of his power and his awareness for all living things. For this reason I cannot doubt that he does everything for us, but more specifically for me. When I think of this earth I begin to think of the eternities and I am astounded by how endless God is and then to think that I am one of God's greatest creations?? I just know he loves me.

I can learn to love myself because if I am a child of God,I know I am. That makes me awesome. What's not to love?! We are divine beings! Once I realized how incredible of a creation humankind really is, I can't help but be grateful for everything I am and everything I have the ability to become. I am a daughter of God. I know that. Because I know who I am and my potential I know God loves me and his love for me teaches me how to love myself.

Again, in knowing that we are God's most excellent creation I can't help but love others. I can see the people around me as children of God. I can try harder to look at them as he would and with love. I can learn to be slower to judge, because God loves each of his children equally, the good and the bad.

So in all this nonsense I am trying to say that we are God's greatest most divine creations. With this knowledge we can understand his love for us and all his creations. His love is great enough for all those who seek it and he wants you to feel that love. He wants us to love ourselves because every time we think little of ourselves or others it hurts him. Let us try a little harder to spare our Heavenly Father that pain. Let us try harder to see God in all things. Especially in ourselves. I love my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for his love and for this Gospel. I am so grateful for all of my many, many blessings and the knowledge that I have as a child of God.

barrel of love

So in case the world didn't already know, I have a pretty incredible man that I have the pleasure of calling "mine". So the other day we were walking through Home Depot's garden center and we walked past the cactus plants. I said that I always wanted a cactus plant for no reason other than I thought they were kinda cool looking. Well what do you know the very next day there is a random knock at my door and a cactus was all that was there. It was the very one that I said I liked best.
I knew right away who it was from. My man, duh! He left a wonderful little note...that was actually closer to an essay with it. The cactus now sits on my dresser and every morning when I wake up I see it and I remember what I lucky girl I am. So I suggest you all buy yourself a cactus because mine has made me feel rull gooood.

a girl after my own heart

Adele is incredible. The end. She inspires my soul with her words, her words are my soul...however you want to say it. This song is one that has been on my mind

When the rain
Is blowing in your face
And the whole world
Is on your case
I could offer you
A warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows
And the stars appear
And there is no one there
To dry your tears
I could hold you
For a million years

To make you feel my love
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/adele/make_you_feel_my_love.html ]
I know you
Haven't made
Your mind up yet
But I would never
Do you wrong
I've known it
From the moment
That we met
No doubt in my mind
Where you belong

I'd go hungry
I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling
Down the avenue
No, there's nothing
That I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging
On the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
Though winds of change
Are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing
Like me yet

I could make you happy
Make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends
Of the Earth for you

To make you feel my love

My night last night

A very handsome boy came to see me at my very fun job. We hunted for these:
After all our digging we were starving so we went here:
We brought it outside because it was a lovely night. We spread out a blanket and ate our delicious burgers like so:
Then we gazed at the romantic this:
The rain kissed our cheeks as we sat in the warm summer air, watching the clouds spread over the sky like this:
and what happens next is none of your business.

"Wow I really like your nail polish!"

People don't say that to me all that often, especially not boys. Correction. Boy at the McDonald's drive thru told me today that he liked my nail polish. I was feeling soooo drowsy this morning and I decided I should get some caffeine in me. I drove to McDonald's and then I decided that I actually wanted a smoothie. So I drive up to pay and the guy was like an Adam Lambert look alike and apparently a sexuality-alike as well. Anyway. The kid says that'll be $3.54. I thought hmm I swear it was only like 2 bucks. I guess not. And then I pay and he tells me he really likes my nail polish and "it looks like you just did them! They're very nice. Hope you have an incredible day!" I say an awkward "thanks. Have a good day"...not really a morning person but it still made me chuckle a little. So I pull up to the next window and the lady hands me the smoothie and a coke and I was like oh I only got the smoothie. She says I was charged for both. Explained the expensive smoothie. I then remember the boy distinctly saying you got just the smoothie right? So he was very nice...but kinda dumb. I got to keep the coke totally ruining my deciding to not be fat and get the smoothie. Yes, I drank both.

The 4th

This 4th of July was very busy. Here are some pictures from throughout the day:

All the cousins watching fireworks in the street

the fireworks...they were much more exciting as a child

Adam is secretly terrified of fire, but he was being a man and lighting the fireworks anyway

Savannah is always causing mischief, and somehow always gets away with it. She took Jake's phone and it was very sad...but this face is hilarious!

The Neeley Brothers

My cute grandpa and very cute cousin Dax

The best friends

They were obsessed with looking at the lawnmower. It was so funny.

Roman and Megan looking awfully patriotic

My adorable roommate Luisa

Dyl. So cute.

Jake kept telling everyone that his hair was spiky like a rhino. The kid is smart.

This girl always has the cutest clothes. She won the award for cutest outfit.

Here I am with my special friends waiting all night long for the parade that we didn't even watch because we got too hungry. I watched part of it from my yard and it was incredibly boring...I don't know why everyone made such a huge deal out of it. We had tons of fun staying up all night though.

Me and Luisa are in love. Can't you tell?

That was my day. I am so proud to be AMERICAN!

Good things will come...

"...it will be alright in the end. Trust God, and good things will come."

The Happy Couple

So Luisa and I make quite the cute couple...and we just want the world to know that we are also very happy. We have lots of adventures together, and we are currently considering making a couple blog since that's what all the hip couples do. Our adventure for today was applesauce chocolate chip cookies. They are almost as delicious as us. They turned our real great.

Try for yourself! We have like 4 dozen over here if you live close. If not here's the recipe:

In a bowl cream:
2 cups of sugar
1 cup of shortening
2 Eggs

after creaming add 3 3/4 cups of flour

In a separate bowl mix:
2 cups of applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. clove
1 tsp. salt

Mix applesauce yumminess with flour fluff and then add as many chocolate chips as your heart desires (2 cups is good)

Bake around 415 (depending on your oven) for 7-8 minutes

ENJOY!

highlights

Life has been full of highlights lately. I just want to say that I am so blessed. I am not going to go into full blown details of all my happiness, but I just want the world to know how much I love my Savior and his Gospel. It is truly the source of perfect happiness. So here are some highlights from this week.

1. Temple
I love the temple so much. Last week I stupidly went on a Monday and I was so depressed when it was closed. I still sat outside and pondered over all my blessings and I was overcome with peace. This week I made sure that I could get inside. I never have huge revelation while I am at the temple but just being there makes me feel so good. I am grateful for temples!

2. Work
I love my job! It's lots of manual labor, and I am always totally pooped when I get home...but I am learning a lot and it's so fun! Plus I get to wear a totally dorky outfit which I accidentally tucked into my underwear today....pretty sure everyone saw. Oh well.
Some funny things that happened today:
-a little kid totally touched my butt
-same little kid sliced his finger open and bled all over the place...but not to worry! I saved the day and then they brought me ice cream because I am that cool.
-a little girl was totally fascinated by the brachiopods...which I explained as ancient clams. After that, everything was an "ANCIENT CLAM!!!!" I didn't have the heart to tell her it was just water. She also wanted to know how Ariel could wear such small seashells (brachiopods are like 1/2 a centimeter). My answer to that, "well she was the little mermaid. She didn't get it, but I cracked myself up. Same little girl ran around screaming "I FOUND A TRIB LO BIT!!!" I tried to tell her it's TRY-LO-BITE, but she would not have that.
-People talk to me like I'm Einstein and I love feeling so in charge! Grown ups admire my knowledge, which is pretty sweet. (Not going to lie...sometimes I make stuff up when I don't know the answers....don't tell)

3. Friends
I love my friends near and far. We are always having so many adventures. I love the friends that lift me up. I have had so many good experiences lately with my friends. Huge shout out to my FHE brothers, my roommates, and my Brynn.

and now we are proud to present...Luisa Lynette

OK so I do not have a picture of this girl and with the changes to facebook, I can no longer steal one from her page. Regardless I wanted to make a shout out. We are currently sitting on my flour discussing boys. It's funny how we've become so close in such a short time. I seriously love her, and I am so lucky to have her. So here's to her. Thanks for being born. After all it is her birthday today. Who knew 19 years ago today this girl could change so many lives just by coming to earth?!

He's Been There Before

I went to a homecoming today and I thought about this poem I once read about missionaries. I love my Savior and I am glad he is there for all of us and understands our exact pain. I hope we can remember to make small sacrifices for him since he sacrificed all for us.

The alarm rings at 6:30; I stumble to my feet
I grab my companion's bedding and pull off his sheet.
A groan fills the room. It's already time to arise?"
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes.

The morning activities follow: study, prayer and such
When its time to leave the apartment, you feel haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," my Companion says with a grin.
I lowly utter a faithless breath, Yea, if anyone lets us in.

With the word of God and my faithful schwinn, we ride off in the street.
Prepared to face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through.
My companion and I are riding home, not accomplishing what we thought we'd do.

We ride up to the mail box hoping to recieve a lot.
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "AIRBOX"
We go up to our apartment; the day is now complete
the only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 PM, my companion is fast asleep.
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness I kneel down to pray;
I need to talk to Father, but I'm not sure what to say.

"Oh Father," I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands worn, hurt and beat
If our area was any smaller,we'd have knocked on every street."

Why on missions are the days so much alike?
the only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike.
Will you send some cooler weather? the heat is killing me!
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes. Its very hard to see.

Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me and call me stupid stuff.
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack;
I want to give them Book of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back.

And what about my Family? They don't have much to say.
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day.
Oh Father, why am I here, am I just wasting my time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind.

My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
The way he rides his bicycle I don't know if he can even see!
Now you have it, I can't go on. I DON'T KNOW what to do!
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I leave you."

My prayer now finished I stand up, then jump right into bed.
I need my feet for tomorrow; we have another long day ahead
Sleep starts to overtake me, I seem to drift away.
Then it sems a vision takes me to another time in another day.

I'm standing alone on the hill, the view is very nice.
A man walks towards me and says, My name is Jesus Christ.
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet.
"Arise he states, follow me to the shade you and I need to speak."

My attention towrads my Saviour, total and complete
He says, "Your Mission is similar of what happened to me.
I understand how you feel, I know what your going through;
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you.

"Even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt now quite sure what else that I could do.
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle for a car would be sweet.
Just remember the donkey I rode I was not equipped with 21 speed.

I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something to hate.
I remember when I sweat blood from every pore, " Oh, the agony was great.
I see you don't like your companion you would rather have someone else.
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth.

It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you.
I remember when they put thorns in my head and called me King of the Jews.
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack.
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back."

Your hands hurt from tracking and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ache in a similar way.
It's hard not to hear from home when your family was not there to see.
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why has though forsaken me?"

We have a lot in common, but there is a difference between us you see.
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me."
He embraced me with his arms, His light filled me with His love.
With tears in my eyes, I watched as he went back to the Father above.

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head.
I listened and heard the alarm, when I realized I was in my bed.
My companion let's out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said. Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through when we feel we can't take more,
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

the things my daddy taught

Values from a man of values that I learned to value

Some things really stick out to me this day as we celebrate how much we love our fathers. To my own daddy:

1. The value of hard work-my dad is probably the hardest working person I know. He is always, and I mean always, problem-solving. He knows how to fix everything and even if he doesn't he figures it out. Through many nights of calculus homework, he taught me about how to figure things out and work through them and try all possibilities before giving up.
2. The value of a good laugh- my dad can be pretty serious but he definitely knows how to laugh. He has taught me that it is important to laugh at little things to help you get through what may be hard. I can't think of a dinner where we didn't all end up hysterically laughing at some random thing...and it was usually because of him. He has taught me how to laugh things off, which has got me through lots of insecurities and bad days.
3. The value of a loving, happy home-Coming to college has made me realized just how blessed I am to have parents and especially a father who supports me and makes sure our home is a good place. I miss my family terribly and I know it's because my father made my home a place of safety and love.
4. The value of the priesthood-No one honors their priesthood like my father. He has such a strong testimony of the gospel and he is so humble. His example has blessed me in countless ways.
5. The value of quality time-I love spending time with my family. As annoying as it used to be, I am so grateful that my dad took the time to make sure we all spent time together. I look back at those memories and if I close my eyes for long enough I can sometimes get lost in a nostalgic haze. I long for those times now.
6. The value of marriage- I hope with all my heart to one day love someone as much as my parents love each other. My mom always tells me the cute things she loves about my dad and I gag a little, but it is pretty cute. My dad is a wonderful man and part of all that wonder comes from being an outstanding husband.
7. The value of values-My dad taught me my whole life through his example. I discussed this with one of my roommates how I don't remember being punished much as a child and I know it's because my parents taught me a righteous way of living...choosing the wrong never even seemed like an option. Thank you dad for teaching me to choose the right.

I love you so much daddy, I couldn't ask for a better father!

Love,
Peep

just one of those days

you know those days where you wake up super late because you were up super late and then you kinda feel like poop the whole day. then you realize your stomach is bothering you all day, and you start to wonder if you could possibly have an ulcer because of all the stress in your life lately, like idk maybe like your car being totaled and then the car you are borrowing getting totally scratched by some random person just days before you were going to return it, and then you try to still make the most of the day but you really just feel bloated and fat and ugly and annoyed and you could punch through walls.....ya it's one of those days for me too.

I believe in miracles

That song has been playing through my head all day. "You sexy thang!" OK so it's not because of a person who happens to be sexy or anything but it's just all the little miracles that I am grateful today.
1. Luisa's friend Michael-Ann is buying my contract and I am soooo happy! One less thing to worry about. My friends are a miracle.
2. Tomorrow I get to go see my cousins and lay out by a pool and soak up some much needed sun. My family is a miracle.
3. Reading an inspirational book today about civil rights. Freedom is a miracle.
4. Enjoying the beauty of the earth around me as I run. The earth is a miracle.

5. Finding out that I will probably get to start my job next week! Not being bored is a miracle.
6. Eating tasty hot and ready with Linds. Pizza is a miracle.
7. Watching SYTYCD. Healthy bodies are a miracle.
8. Enjoying the sweet sweet sounds of music. Harmony is a miracle.
9. Blogging. Technology is a miracle.
10. Living. Breathing. Laughing. Singing. Playing...My life is a miracle.

Do you ever just sit and think...man this is not what I thought it'd be...?

This song- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrMmr1oMPGA sounds like how I feel. Right now all I really want is some of this...

palm trees

sunset

squinting as hard as you can to see the "green flash"

maybe a nice BBQ, just to smell like smoke
to smell like summer.

I want summer
summer makes me smile.

The prophet Joseph Smith taught...

All are within the reach of pardoning mercy, who have not committed the unpardonable sin. And so we pray, and we fast, and we plead, and we implore. We love those who wander, and we never give up hope.

addiction

I have 3 new addictions as of late. I don't know if you can call them addictions so much as obsessive compulsive tendencies...well anyway

1. I can't get enough of that capri sun. I always wanted to buy them when I was living with Brynn but she helped me to realize I don't need them. Well I got some from Phil for my B-day and drank all of them in less than a week. I have like 3 a day I swear. I bought myself a new box because I love them so much.
2. I also noticed recently that I subconsciously match my underwear to my outfit. It's turned into like a game now. I can't wear something unless my underwear matches. It's kinda really weird, and I know this...yet I still can't help myself.
3. Flossing. I go through these phases where I am really good about it because my dentist told me....but this time I actually enjoy it and do it every day.

Moral of the story:
Marissa has problems.....I creep myself out.

Peace

Sometimes I sit and feel lame as I listen to this song and then I listen to this song and I feel somewhat better. Thank you Adele for telling a story that hurts to say out loud, and thanks for giving me hope and a whole lot of peace.

The scars of your love remind me of us,
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
I can't help feeling,

We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hand,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

and then
Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg,
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead,"
Sometimes it lasts in love,
But sometimes it hurts instead, yeah,

I am going to find someone much better than you...

Perfect Year

Since I just turned 20 I have been thinking a lot about growing up. I've thought about what this year will be like and I decided to make it the perfect year. But perfect in a particular way. I got the idea from a seminary teacher and I failed at my perfect year around 6 months. How it works is I am choosing 3 goals. They are really small and totally achievable. I promise myself to work on them every single day and if I miss a day I ruin the chance at a perfect year. So here we go. Day 1.

Rest in peace Bowen

So today marks the day where they are ripping down Bowen Hall. Not going to lie I am kinda sad. There were a lot of rough times spent there but lots of really good times. I had lots of firsts in this place. First time away from home, first roommates, the list goes on. I lived in this place from June 2009 to April 2010. A lot happened here and I will always cherish my memories of Bowen Hall.

Here's a picture of my room in Bowen 12. This is where I lived with Katy. That was quite the year. Katy was an awesome roommate and this room holds so many memories. Now I just wish I had more pictures.
Here's my first room in Bowen 16. "Bowen 16, that's what's up!" It was fun and scary moving away from home but this place became my home. When I moved out of this room I moved downstairs and I would still come up to Sam and Haley's room and sleep on the floor. I love you Bowen 16.
One of my favorite memories in Bowen were in Bowen 16 in the summer. I had more sleepovers in Bowen than my whole life combined. Here is a picture of one of the most epic ones

Bowen Hall. You are special. The memories you hold will last all of the people who lived here their whole lives. I know I cannot forget the people I met here and how much they mean to me. I owe it all to this crappy old building. I will miss you dearly.

Day 31- A picture of yourself

Well the challenge is now over. Here is a picture of me and how much I have grown over this experience. It's been real.

Day 30- A picture of someone you miss

I miss Haley Eldredge like Alaska misses darkness in the winter.
I LOVE MY BABY BUTT

This was the most beautiful hike I've ever been on.
Geology always makes me smile.

Day 28- A picture of something you're afraid of

I am absolutely terrified of being in a confined space as it fills with water and having to eventually make the decision to breathe and die if I can't escape....

walking on sunshine...

Today Karen and I decided to go to the park. Well because it was just a most beautiful day. So we picked a nice tree
did not lick the sap....however, i was very tempted
admired the simple details around us
kicked off our sandals
and had a most fantastic time at the park

Day 27- A picture of yourself and a family member

This here is my favorite cousin. Don't tell. Hers is Squidney and I love her to pieces. This year has been so fun living close to her and having lots of sleepovers. She always makes me tell her bedtime stories and I usually just fancify my life into a fairytale. She always says they are stupid, but she likes them nonetheless. I feel the same way about her :P

"What happened here changed the world. Let it change your life."

Day 25- A picture of your day

I feel like a mom....except for I have no husband or kids to show for it. Just laundry. Somehow it is already 12:21 and I am finishing up my second load of laundry, cleaned out my closet, straightened up my room, did the dishes, and made Karen's bed (my sheets are in the wash). I am pooped. Now I have to go take a shower and then go to the grocery store. I am telling you, I am becoming an old woman. So really here is a picture of what my day is sort of like today:

A million and a half things

So basically I am done with finals and I am sooo happy, and so exhausted. This finals week has actually been probably the best. I wasn't super super stressed although I barely got any sleep. Which is why I just wanted to say that I kept thinking about when my daddy used to say go to sleep and it'll be better in the morning....yeah I am starting to think that's the best advice he ever gave. I actually slept for like 9 hours last night and I felt SO amazing when I woke up. I am kinda sad that all my classes are over now. This was an enjoyable semester and I made some good friends. Glad to get rid of the creepers and the boring classes but I feel like I learned a lot. This semester was a huge testimony building experience for me. My patriarchal blessing talks about my education and one thing that it mentions is that I will find joy in my intelligence and as I learn the things of this world I will come to know the things of the next. That has been very true for me coming to college and studying geology but this semester I really felt that way. My classes really opened my mind to just how superior our Heavenly Father really is. It's amazing. I know his hand is in everything and I can't believe how beautiful all his creations are. Here are some things that I have loved this year in my learning:

My favorite class this semester was definitely Geology of the Planets. It was seriously so interesting and I was captivated every single class. I actually asked people to stop texting me for that one...I told them I had to listen but really I wanted to sooo bad. The solar system is incredible and it's beauty truly testifies of a supreme being.
A little closer to home, I took an atmosphere and weather class....not my favorite but we got to look awesome really pretty pictures like sun dogs:
and lenticular clouds: (I actually saw them in the flesh once on my way to Logan and I got sooo excited because I knew what they were)

All my classes focused on the earth and just learning about how exactly perfect it is for life and water and everything makes me realize that there is a plan. I LOVE THE EARTH!
Happy Earth Day yesterday :)

Another class that was not my favorite surprisingly, was Historical Geology. But geology has given me a much stronger testimony so we're going to give it a shout out anyway and take a look at what captivating things the earth has for us to study regardless of how much I hated that class
The Grand Canyon:
Another class that was way awesome, for the most part, was Astronomy. This class really opened my mind to just how endless God is as well as how powerful and all-knowing he is. It's so astounding to sit back and to really try to grasp how immense everything truly is. The last day of class my teacher put up the stars in the planetarium and just read scriptures to us. She talked about how amazing it is that God cares about us with all this creation that surrounds us and that He loves as as much as he does. I honestly can't imagine why. It's incredible.
Spiral galaxy:
Supernova:

So besides some really pretty pictures there is a point to all this. I think the best way to sum it up is this:
Alma 30:44 "all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator."
