my life as of lately...simple and grand

So I never like really posting things that happen from day to day because I feel like they are boring. But then I remembered why I got this blog in the first place, to remember those little everyday moments. Afterall, life is a few big moments held together by all the simple, little moments in between. And if I really start to think about it, I live for the little moments and simple pleasures. I can honestly remember going to get my favorite grape with pop rocks blizzard at DQ for family night better than my own graduation. So with all that in mind I am going to take the time to remember my everydays :)

Last night I got home from work and I had to go pick up Jacob and take him to a birthday party. The party was in this little condo place called "Collage". We used to live really close to that area when I was little and when people talked about going to college...I assumed that was the place. It's always been this sorta mystery to me I suppose, and it wasn't until just last month that I went there as part of an adventure with my friends. It is hardly as exciting as I imagined, but I still got a little thrill when I went there last night.

Nick Ashton also came over last night. He really wanted me to play the piano for him, but I refused. Just because I have been playing for ten years doesn't mean I am comfortable to play in front of just anyone. So I told him we could watch recording of a piano recital. We couldn't find any good ones though so we watched some old family videos...mostly of Christmas. Then we went in the spa and we had some deep discussions about life and love. I saw a shooting star. We then proceeded to facebook stalk some people and share stories about our past. Overall it was a pretty good night. I didn't go to bed till like 11:30, and somehow I am not even tired. It will probably hit tomorrow.

So now it is today. When I woke up this morning I felt ready for the day. The sun is shining super bright and it warms my heart. I feel sorta like bumblebee today because I am wearing a yellow sweater and a black skirt. I ate blackberry yogurt for breakfast and I am having a bad hair day. I listened to Marissa's Fav Mix I on the way here and it brought a big smile to my face. And lastly, I am in a particularly good mood because I am thinking about how good my life is.

When life gets you stuck...find your daddy.

So I was just going back through some old blog posts because I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do. I already did another post today...which is evidence of how slow things are at work today. It seems like I can't find a single thing to do and I wait and wait until it's time to get the mail because then there is something to do and then at that time EVERYONE asks me to do something for them and I can't even take a breath. Funny how that works. Anyway so I am not completely off topic because I wanted to talk about something that happened at work.

It was actually the same day that I made my post about working at the wonderful Preovolos and Associates. It was my second day of work and things seemed to be going smoothly and I felt a lot better than the first day. So I already wrote about the fiasco that I had with parking that morning...little did I know how good it would get. So I leave the lot and I am all excited because it was a good day, minus what happened in the morning. I pull out of the exit which is on a steep hill and there is a wall next to it because it runs along a main road and you have to merge. So I start to get over to go to the road...well I tried at least. I got myself stuck completely on this large curb that had the remains of a post (metal prongs)...yeah those wouldn't let me go. I called my parents in a panic because people were honking and finally a person from the building came and told me to call a tow truck and so my parents did and then they came down. My parents got there before the tow truck and anyone who knows my dad well enough can imagine the face he makes when there is a quandry. He walked around the car and stared at it for probably 5 minutes. Then he had me get in and he tried to push it but that didn't help. He went to the back of the car and got out a bat. I thought to myself well nice dad we can't get it off so let's put a few dents in it. He somehow wedged it under the tire of the car and then told me to floor it and he single-handedly lifted my car and pushed it off. YAY daddy!!! No tow truck even necessary. So that was my adventure. My poor husband has a lot to live up to.

shake shake shake shake sh-shake it!

Alrighty so here's the thing. I am at work and finding myself with nothing to do. Not even Facebook could keep me entertained. I decided that rather than ask for something to do, it would be more fun to sit and write a bit on my blog. So here's what's been going down as of lately...

My parents and Caitlin are out of town this week for Girl's Camp so me and Jacob have the whole house to ourselves. So last night we were just chilling and we were in the office watching my new favorite vampire show, Moonlight (don't judge). I like me a good show about vampires not going to lie...and the guy is FINE! Take a look for yourself: http://seriemaniacos.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/moonlight.jpg It's a little bit of a freaky, intense kinda show and the episode just happened to have a kidnapper in it. So as we're sitting there on the edge of our seats, there were these sounds that sounded like someone was walking around the house and I looked at Jacob and with wide eyes, and said be quiet. He looked a little freaked and that's when the shaking started. It was an EARTHQUAKE! We ran to the doorways even though they're not really that safe...anywho it was kinda frightening, but me being the weirdo geologist that I am...I kinda loved it. So it lasted for like 4 seconds NBD right? Yeah that's what I thought...

So Jacob wanted to sleep in Caitlin's bed because he likes to hang with me, because I am that cool. So we're laying there and Jacob starts asking me what we would do if someone broke into the house and I was like "don't worry about it" and he just kept asking and he said, "why aren't you worried about it?" I told him "because it's not going to happen and if it did we would be safe." He wanted to know what we would do still. I told him I had my cell phone right there and I would call 911 and then we would go hide in the bathroom and lock the doors until someone came to help us. He seemed to be O.K. with that answer and he went to sleep. Well then of course I was paranoid thinking about getting a bat or something to keep under my bed. I finally went to sleep and then in the middle of the night my little earthquake friend had an aftershock. It was just a big sound and I thought someone had swung open the door to my bedroom. I sit up and my heart is racing faster than it ever has in my life and I scream, Jacob RUN! When I realized it was nothing and Jacob was dead asleep I laid down and took about 30 minutes to calm down and went back to sleep. I am grateful that he's not sleeping at our house tonight because I don't think my heart can handle it if there are any more earthquakes. I am also excited to have the house to myself and to sleep in absolute silence. That like never happens so I hope it is an amazing sleep :)

Fun in the SUN...everybody wants some

So my most wonderful roommate Robin came down for memorial weekend and since Heather already lives here in San Diego we spent the amazing weekend together. It was amazing to be able to spend time together without having to worrying about studying. Saturday was our main adventure day. We took Robin to the beach and in-n-out, because that's what California is really all about. I wanted to just post some pics about the weekend because it was so much fun. The sleepover parts were definitely my favorite though. We don't have any pictures of those but we had some pretty interesting discussions. Let's just say that Robin is pretty funny, and well so am I :)

So here is this random seal that was just chilling on the shore. Some weird guy with dreads tried to come and talk to it but it barked at him and he backed off. It was pretty funny though all posing and what not. Supposedly it got run over by a jeep later...how sad :(
This just about sums up what true friendship is all about.
So here is the first trip to In-n-Out. She liked it and so I still like and respect her. I love how awkward this picture is too. Especially the girl in the back.
Failed attempt to do cool hair flip picture.
Successful jumping picture, and one of my favorite from the day!

Good Morning, Preovolos and Associates!

So if you're looking at the title of this and you are confused...welcome to my new life. I just got a new job as a receptionist for this law firm aka Preovolos and Associates. So I have to say that every time I answer the phone and let's just say it's a mouthful. I feel pretty retarded every time I say it. Why couldn't it be Smith and Company??? Whatever. I guess I am just going to have to deal with it. So yesterday was my first day. I was pretty overwhelmed not going lie. Other than feeling like I was going to poop my pants for the first 5 hours it went pretty well. I still have a lot to learn...but hopefully I can handle it all. Oh and get this, my boss's name is Thansi prounounced TH UH NAW SEE...mhmmm. He wears bowties. Got one in the mail yesterday actually. Speaking of the mail. The system here is totally retarded. So I have to go get the mail. Then I have to sort if by person. Open it. Then within the people try to figure out what they want and don't want. If they want something I have to go scan it and send it to their email. Then I give them the mail....I don't get why I have to scan it AND give it to them, but I just follow orders.

So today I am sitting here and trying to relax after a stressful morning. I had to park in a different place then I was used to. As it would turn out I parked in a place and I wasn't sure if it was right so I left. Then I decided after I left that it was the place I wanted to be. You would think that I could just turn around and be where I needed to, but this is downtown. Yeah so I got way lost and I knew exactly where I should be I just couldn't get there. I would think I had it but then there was NO TURNS or ONE WAY. I wanted to cry. So finally I got into the parking garage and then I couldn't find the stupid elevator. Found it and started to go outside when I realized that the place I was told to park was across the street...the Bank of America, not the California Bank where I had parked. So I went up and told my trainer and she told me to move and how to get there. NBD. So then I go back but I couldn't find my parking ticket in my purse. Thank heavens it was on the ground next to my car. So then I try to leave and I had to pay 4 bucks! My stupid card got declined and there was no person there. I was pissed and again about to cry. Luckily a jamaican out of no where came to my rescue and allowed me to pay in cash. So that's my story.

Now all I have to worry about is how to get home. yay. :(
