Frosted Flakes

Right now it is 11 on a Saturday morning. I have only ventured from my bed to eat some delicious Frosted Flakes...well actually I got them and brought them back to my bed. My head is pounding, but it's probably because I slept for wayyyy too long. It was nice though. It's the first Saturday since school started that I could sleep in.

Today is going to be a good day.

I am going to tidy up my room. Then I am going to get started on my Micro-Exam for chem and work on that till Robin gets back from running. Then we are going to the creamery for lunch before she goes on her field trip. At that point I am picking up shelbs and we are going to beat our faces in at the computer lab....once we decide to give up on that I will come back and continue to work on my Micro-Exam until my Rhett is done with his stuffs.

At that point we will party for the night :)

Ma BoyFraannd

I just wanted to make a shout out to Rhett. He is far too good to me and though I am far from deserving, I still get to call him mine. He's done lots of things for me as of late that I have been so grateful for. He is the kindest and most loving boy a girl could ask for.

He's the best. Be jealous.

Nerd Fest

So to the right is a quick look at my new life. I have recently added mineralogy and chemistry to my schedule. I was kinda freaking out because they're like the death classes in my major. And did I mention I decided to take them concurrently?? Ya I'm crazy.

I am taking these classes with my friends so that's a plus. Studying all together is almost as good as hanging out....almost.

It's so weird, but it's actually been OK. I finished all my hw today at 5. How? I don't even know. But all I can say is I am awesome.

Something else that is weird and awesome...I kinda love these classes. They're a challenge, which I like. And I finally feel (after taking field studies) that I have something to work towards. A lack of motivation has been a serious issue for me since coming to college. It all feels sooo exciting now. I am pumped to learn. Even the hard things.

I just feel so blessed to be at such an amazing university with incredible professors, TAs and classmates. Learning is awesome. Just awesome.

Most Beautiful Creation

So today is Fast Sunday. I love these days. They are the one day in the month where I get to truly reflect on my life and think about my blessings, my trials, and changes I want to make in my life.

I have been thinking a lot recently about how I know God loves me. I don't think it was a coincidence when today's lesson in Relief Society was on Uchtdorf's talk from a few conferences ago about our love for God, for ourselves and those around us. I was really thinking about what specifically makes me love my Heavenly Father and what makes me know he loves me. A certain experience came to mind that I can't get out of my head so I figured I would share it here, because it applies to all these different situations.

My very first semester at BYU I was in a geology class. My first day of this class was life changing. Not only did I decide that I want to spend the rest of my life studying geology, but I gained a new perspective on my life that I have been able to draw upon again and again for strength and I was reminded of it just these past few weeks and especially today.

We were hiking in Rock Canyon and it was over 100 degrees that day. I was so tired because we were hiking for 6 hours, and I didn't have enough water and so I was getting a little grumpy. We made it to a peak and we finally had more than 2 minutes to sit down. My teacher stood in front of us and he asked us what we see. Lots of kids tried to incorporate the things we just learned into their comments talking about faulting and various rock types but all I could think of was that I could see my dorm and the temple. My attitude instantly changed. I sat and pondered about the temple and how it does stand out in the valley and how when we go there we can stand out and be made better. Then my teacher gets up and he said, "I appreciate all your comments, and now I would like to share with you what I see. I see God." He then paused for a moment and went on to say the one thing that I needed to hear most at that time. Something that has stuck with me and brought me so much peace and strength. He said, "One thing that I love about this field of study is the chance to learn about God. Look at this earth around you. Think about the processes we've discussed and everything that you can see. It is real, and it comes from a very real God. His creations are as endless as he is. One cannot look at all the things God has created and not know that he exists and that he loves his children. Look at the marvelous gift he has given us! But, of all of these creations. Of all the time and importance that exists in this earth and universe...they are nothing without you. Of all God's creations, you are his most precious, and by far the most beautiful." That moment changed my life forever. So as I was thinking about this experience today in Relief Society I realized a few things about these different kinds of love.

I know God loves me because he has given me this earth. This earth reminds me of his power and his awareness for all living things. For this reason I cannot doubt that he does everything for us, but more specifically for me. When I think of this earth I begin to think of the eternities and I am astounded by how endless God is and then to think that I am one of God's greatest creations?? I just know he loves me.

I can learn to love myself because if I am a child of God,I know I am. That makes me awesome. What's not to love?! We are divine beings! Once I realized how incredible of a creation humankind really is, I can't help but be grateful for everything I am and everything I have the ability to become. I am a daughter of God. I know that. Because I know who I am and my potential I know God loves me and his love for me teaches me how to love myself.

Again, in knowing that we are God's most excellent creation I can't help but love others. I can see the people around me as children of God. I can try harder to look at them as he would and with love. I can learn to be slower to judge, because God loves each of his children equally, the good and the bad.

So in all this nonsense I am trying to say that we are God's greatest most divine creations. With this knowledge we can understand his love for us and all his creations. His love is great enough for all those who seek it and he wants you to feel that love. He wants us to love ourselves because every time we think little of ourselves or others it hurts him. Let us try a little harder to spare our Heavenly Father that pain. Let us try harder to see God in all things. Especially in ourselves. I love my Heavenly Father. I am grateful for his love and for this Gospel. I am so grateful for all of my many, many blessings and the knowledge that I have as a child of God.

barrel of love

So in case the world didn't already know, I have a pretty incredible man that I have the pleasure of calling "mine". So the other day we were walking through Home Depot's garden center and we walked past the cactus plants. I said that I always wanted a cactus plant for no reason other than I thought they were kinda cool looking. Well what do you know the very next day there is a random knock at my door and a cactus was all that was there. It was the very one that I said I liked best.
I knew right away who it was from. My man, duh! He left a wonderful little note...that was actually closer to an essay with it. The cactus now sits on my dresser and every morning when I wake up I see it and I remember what I lucky girl I am. So I suggest you all buy yourself a cactus because mine has made me feel rull gooood.
