Several people have told me in the past month, "isn't being engaged so great?!" I always look at them trying to figure out if there was any hint of sarcasm in there. Get this-they are totally serious. I don't get it. Being engaged is terrible.
You have to say goodbye at the end of each day.
You still have roommates.
You have a twin bed next to a cinder-block wall for the 3rd year in a row, and it still makes you shiver at night.
You have to wait all day to see each other.
You have to brush your teeth all by yourself!
On a more emotional side of it all, the wedding makes you crazy.
Everything and everyone is annoying.
Something as simple as shoes can make you lose sleep.
You're irritable because of this even though you pound down the melatonin.
You can never focus.
There is always something on your mind, like what shade of whatever will match best.
Your lack of focus makes you a sub-par TA and a worse student.
Did I mention you no longer have a single Sunday to yourself because you will forever be in the bishop's office.??
Being engaged is great. So great.
You are right, being married is better than being engaged but being engaged is better than not.
